Lawson Group complete long term works in Newport

This week saw Lawson Group’s long term works at the former Orb Steelworks come to an end, as the site is prepared for the construction of new homes by Taylor Wimpey South Wales.

The site has now been completely cleared, decontaminated and excavated in order for Taylor Wimpey to move forward to the next phase of the housing development, including the creation of roads using the crushed materials from the demolition. Lawson Group crushed resultant concrete materials from the demolition to specification to be reused within the development.

Lawson Group Director Martin Wilson said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Taylor Wimpey on this project, and are delighted to have completed the project to the satisfaction of our Client. We wish Taylor Wimpey every success with the new development, and look forward to working with them again in the future”.

Arwyn Evans, Production Manager at Taylor Wimpey commented: “We are again very satisfied with Lawson Demolition’s performance, and in particular their high level of competence in managing critical Health and Safety and Environmental issues, including asbestos removal, has mitigated significant risks on this complex industrial demolition contract”
