Lawson Group recycle rail footbridge in Taunton

Lawson Group have completed the removal of a rail footbridge in Taunton, Somerset on behalf of Barratt Homes.
The works were carried out using a mobile crane, with a cherry picker then being used to fit lifting beams to the main span lifting points. A quick cut was used release the first bridge span from the second and the structure to be retained and placed on the ground away from the lifting area for deconstruction. The second span was then removed in the same way.
Following the completion of work, the rail bridge was relocated from Taunton and recycled as part of the refurbishment of the Buckfastleigh Railway in South Devon.

Lawson Group demolish mast tower at RAF Brize Norton

Lawson Group were pleased to annouce their recent contract win for the demolition of a mast tower at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.
The interesting project requires highly trained demolition operatives. Approximately 15 metres in height, and around 5 metres in circumference, the concrete tower will be deconstructed using a Caterpillar 345 with a long reach and an MP15 attachment.
Lawson Group Director Martin Wilson commented: “We are delighted to have been successful in winning this project. We are looking forward to working at RAF Brize Norton, and we hope to secure further works there in the future.
