Lawson Group have completed the removal of a rail footbridge in Taunton, Somerset on behalf of Barratt Homes.
The works were carried out using a mobile crane, with a cherry picker then being used to fit lifting beams to the main span lifting points. A quick cut was used release the first bridge span from the second and the structure to be retained and placed on the ground away from the lifting area for deconstruction. The second span was then removed in the same way.Following the completion of work, the rail bridge was relocated from Taunton and recycled as part of the refurbishment of the Buckfastleigh Railway in South Devon.
